The problem of being in existence lies in the fact that our being is absolute while existence is relative. The difficulty of living an authentic life of being in existence, fulfilling the expression of the absolute within the relative by a conscious transcendence of the physical, emotional and intellectual limitations of existence, demands an existential faith in the absolute disciplines of love and moral being.
What is life? Life is nothing, life is being, being is absolute, spiritual, transcendent to the universe of relativity in which it merely exists. Life is the image of absolute being, the immaterial, spiritual, infinite nothingness within which the universe is expanding, inflating. An image of the absolute, to fully mirror the absolute, must itself be absolute and be one with the transcendent being of the absolute. The individual soul may be viewed as an appearance of this eternal spirit within the material universe and must yearn to be nothing.
It is impossible to reduce matter to the temperature of absolute zero (-273.15 degrees centigrade) within the physical universe. Such a reduction would constitute a breach by the absolute into the sphere of intellectual existence and would culminate in the swallowing up of 13.8 billion years of progressive hydrogen accumulation. The possibility that intelligent humans could transfer to a parallel universe is one thing that the physical theorists might consider but more likely is that we shall become what we are, that is, spiritual beings .
Modern philosophy descends into the nothingness feared and hated by the atheist existentialists, whereas to the spiritual consciousness nothingness is nothing to be feared. Absolute zero is in fact precisely the power of the absolute to abrogate and annul relativity, the entire material universe conceived by the fallen murderous intellect of killer man. The material universe emerged out of nothing and into nothing we shall return, into a nothingness that is spiritual, eternal, infinite and absolute, characterized by morality, love and peace.
We live in a world of relativity, a universe of relativity, and yearn for the absolute. Each individual human soul is faced with this dilemma, to be determined immediately by relativity or transcendentally by the absolute. The relative is everything, the absolute is nothing. The choice is between existence and being. The end of all philosophy, consciousness sifting through the stuff of existence in search of meaning, is the discovery of the nothingness of being. It is the nothingness within which the universe came into existence and into which it is expanding, the nothingness of life, of spiritual being. The choice is clear. The absolute has come to us.
The easiest intellectual categorization that can be made is surely that between absolute and relative, between being and non-being. To the intellect, as to the senses, being is nothing. Being is precisely that nothingness within which the universe emerged and into which it is expanding. The material universe, the actuality of existence, is the attempt to negate the reality of being which, however, is absolute and cannot be negated by relativity. Relativity is therefore confined within the expanding universe where being enters into a relationship, a conflict, with non-being. Being is not the negative in existence! Non-being, the intellectual relationship of the individual soul with relativity, is the negative in existence.
“To the consciousness of a redeemed human being the universe is a relative actuality confined within the spiritual reality of absolute being and is a projection into lower dimensions of a reality which is infinite and eternal. An eternal consciousness of this reality must be the goal and the purpose of human life. Enduring life is essential for the continuing expansion of consciousness, but human life is extremely fragmented by the apparent dying of conscious individuals. If the evolutionary growth of consciousness is to flourish and become more complex the conscious being has to be set free from death. Eternal life becomes essential precisely at the level of the spiritually conscious being. In view of this the person seeking the correct path of evolution and an eternal life must choose to live with faith in the absolute categories of being, believing in a reality that is infinite and trusting in a life that is eternal.”
A common syndrome to people of all faiths is to hide behind physical and devotional attributes of spiritual beings, objectively active instead of subjectively passive, doing rather than just being. “If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him” is the advice given by the sages to the unwary, showing that an inwards devotion to the unmanifest as opposed to an outwards devotion toward the manifest is the true path to enlightenment. Don’t hide behind the Buddha!
I am hoping to utilize this platform to communicate my profound view of the world and of life as it is expressed in my book, “The Reality of Being.” Few people in my experience are aware of the depth of the problems confronting all forms of life on earth which have their roots in human error. Until a significant number of human beings take that responsibility which involves an existential acknowledgement of guilt can there be any movement towards a remedy of the human situation, fraught with injustice.
